The deeper the breath, the deeper the peace.

The next time you are under any kind of pressure.

Stuck in traffic. Rushing from class to class. Dealing with a difficult customer at work. Desperately trying to recall answers on a final exam.

Wake up to the formidable power that exists within you.

Right here. Right now.

Right under your nose.

Breathe

The deeper the breath, the deeper the peace.

  1. Especially love the title of this piece, due in no small measure to Eddie Vedder’s haunting lyrics in “Just Breathe,” though the music itself is equally as moving.

    1. Thanks Richard! I ventured over to YouTube and enjoyed an unplugged version of Just Breathe. Pearl Jam was one of my favourite bands when I was an undergrad at Huron College at Western U. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. 🎵🖤

      1. Something tells me we are similar in age! Pearl Jam came out with “Ten” (which was easily a 10!) as I was making the move to McGill all those decades ago…😉

  2. Breathing has been a life saver through my last few years and losing a child. It can change everything. Just a breathe away to a new beginning. A simple breath deserves so much gratitude.

  3. I think I’ll be chanting (well in my head!) Inhale peace, exhale pressure next time I need to monitor my breathing. Great and helpful post. Thank you! ⚘

    1. Chanting! Love it! And I double dare you to chant “inhale peace .. exhale pressure” out loud at least once this week. If anything, the giggles that go with the chant will relieve your stress twice as fast. This I know from experience. LOL.. 🎉😁

  4. So true, Andrea! I love this. I breathe to help me come present, be aware that peace is always with me, and open to gratitude. Thank you for the reminder – I just breathed right now!! 🙂 Have a beautiful rest of your Wednesday — Debbie

  5. For me, breathing is my anchor to reality; when all seem to be falling apart, a focus on my breath assures me that everything is ok. Nice post.

    1. Thank you Clare for your feedback & your inspiration too!
I love how you write “breathing is my anchor to reality”.
I am equally lifted & grounded by your thoughts. ⚓️

  6. Reblogged this on Leadership Flagship and commented:
Sometimes we think we cannot afford to take time to do these things; I say we cannot afford not to. Our mental health and well-being is just as important as our physical well-being. Just Do it!

    1. Thank you for sharing with your readers Margaret! As you write: Leadership is an inside job. So why not start with what’s within our reach. One invigorating breath at a time.

  7. I make a point of relaxing through breathing exercises whenever I’m feeling overwhelmed or while on my evening sits on the patio with my dog. It’s almost like I’m recharging my internal life battery.

    1. Good for you! I love how you practice what you preach.

“Internal life battery” is such a great metaphor for self-care.

      L o n g d e e p b r e a t h s change everything. 😊
