“The strength of any organization is a direct result of the strength of its leaders.” — John C. Maxwell
The best part is that strengths-based leadership skills can be learned, developed, mentored, and coached.
Student Leaders Training and Development
Strengths- based leadership is the cornerstone of my work with Ontario student leaders. Including St. Clair College SRC Windsor Campus leaders and TSI Thames Campus leaders.
The intention for our work together is to strengthen the bonds between team members, and harness their mission of: 1) Supporting, 2) Leading, and 3) Advocating for St. Clair College Students!
1. Challenges as Opportunities
During this segment of the training session, we explored how challenges can be transformed into opportunities.
We also examined how pressure can be used in a positive way to motivate us to the next level of our lives.
2. Psychology of Leadership
Two theories of psychology were also shared during leadership training:
1) The ABC Model of Cognitive Psychology
and
2) The Flow Model of Positive Psychology

3. The Resilience Mindset
Finally, we discussed why resilience is not so much about what happened, but our thoughts about what happened.
Which is why it is so important for leaders to learn how to reframe challenges as opportunities, and stressors as strength-builders! The topic of my TEDx Talk.
“When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” — Dr. Wayne Dyer
Thank you UWSA VP of Advocacy Arop Plaek Deng for being the photographer and videographer at the SRC Leadership Event!

Turning it around to point out the positives of pressure is… Awesome! As are you 😊
Thanks Christy! Redirecting students to see the positive parts of pressure, including being in the flow, reignites their motivation and gives them a sense of control. 📖💎
Truly masterful leadership is so rare. Teach on, Andrea!
Thank you so much Mitch! Your encouragement means the world to me.
